Robert Wall was born in Luray, Va. and educated in Virginia schools. He received his B.A. degree in
history from Va. Tech and his M.A. from Radford University in theory/composition. His principal teachers were John Diercks (Hollins University), Arthur Jannery (Radford University) and further study with Edward Troupin at the University of Florida. He served as Band Director at Halifax County Schools in Virginia for 12 years and 20 years as Instrumental instructor in Montgomery County Schools, also in
Virginia. Before retiring in 2004, he also was the Fine Arts Supervisor for the Montgomery County
Schools. His band consistently received highest ratings at various in-state festivals as well as national competitions.
